Perverse Expansion of FDA Powers Will Target Dietary Supplements
Byron J. Richards, CCN,
April 25, 2007
A new attack against health freedom, drug safety, and dietary supplements was launched last week by Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) with major support from Michael Enzi (R-WY). It is called the Food and Drug Administration Revitalization Act (S1082). This legislation was planned over the past few years working hand-in-glove with the FDA's dysfunctional management and legal team, meaning this legislation was written for the profits of Big Pharma and Big Biotech AT THE EXPENSE OF SAFETY AND HUMAN HEALTH.

Americans are Apparently Quite Stupid
A new survey found that twenty-five percent of Americans think they have eaten genetically modified food. The other seventy-five percent are in la-la land. These products have found their way into seventy-five percent of the packaged food on grocery shelves, meaning everyone has eaten some genetically modified food…

FDA Allows Off-Label Narcotic Sales
The narcotic lollipop known as Actin, made by Cephalon, is approved to treat cancer pain. Its sales are booming, likely to hit 600 million dollars this year. Most are for off-label use such as headache, remedies widely promoted by the company’s sales force and in company-sponsored physician training vacations. Enjoy Thanksgiving!
Our society is rapidly losing the cultural fabric that holds us all together. At least one day every year there is a celebration based on food, sharing, family, and community. Obesity and Pancreatic Distress
As a person gains weight the pancreas must work harder to produce more insulin to transport the excess calories....Metabolic signals coming from white adipose tissue, leptin and adiponectin, regulate pancreas beta cell fitness. A new study shows that as the weight problem worsens leptin levels rise too high while adiponectin levels fall. Once adiponectin levels fall, pancreatic fitness is lost and disease risk sets in....
